DUFFY, DUFFY & BURDO, ESQS. ANNOUNCES SCHOLARSHIP WINNERS

-- Law Firm Recognizes Two Local Students who are Making a Difference --

Uniondale, NY, August 8, 2005 -- Duffy, Duffy & Burdo, Esqs. has announced the winners of its third annual scholarship program. The two winners of the Duffy, Duffy & Burdo Making a Difference Scholarship, both high school seniors planning to study special education in college, were selected due to their outstanding volunteerism and commitment to helping others, in addition to their strong academic record and achievements.

The winners of the scholarship are Lindsay Giusto of Lake Rononkoma, New York and Kristina Goetz of New Hyde Park, New York. Each student received a check for $1,000.

There was a tremendous response to this scholarship program, and we were impressed at the strong commitment that so many of our local students have made in dedicating their time and talents to help others, says Michael Duffy, managing partner at Duffy, Duffy & Burdo, one of the area's leading medical malpractice law firms. In addition, we were quite pleased to see that so many students are interested in pursuing careers in special education, and we're happy to be doing something to encourage their further study in this important field.

The Duffy, Duffy & Burdo Making a Difference Scholarship Program awards were presented to each student at the law firm's Uniondale office on July 26, 2005. The firm

plans to offer this scholarship on an annual basis, continuing to recognize and reward those students who are exemplary role models for giving back to the community and who have expressed a desire to continue to help other individuals through future careers in special education.

Lindsay Giusto of Lake Ronkonkoma attended Sachem High School East in Farmingville, New York. As a high school student, she was involved in the Special Olympics and participated in Co Lab, a peer program that teams disabled students with other students to help them perform tasks and understand the difficult material. Lindsay will be attending Bloomsburg University in Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania this fall to study Special Education.

Kristina E. Goetz, of New Hyde Park attended New Hyde Park Memorial High School.
